Since 2013, the Dhamma Gavesi Meditation Centre at 115A Coast Road,Wainuiomata has been offering a sanctuary of peace and contemplation to the community. Set in a beautiful quiet valley among mountains, the centre immediately instils a sense of wonder and peace of mind..

The resident monks provides teaching under the guidance of the Theraveda Buddhist practice.

Monks and interested people come to the centre for meditation retreats and events and a meditation programme for kids has recently begun. With donations from the community, the site has been developed with nature walkways, meditation huts (kutis), a beautiful fence wall surrounding the Bo-Tree and a shrine room with twenty-eight Buddha statues. However, the hundred-year-old main house has just a single toilet and shower which is inadequate for residents and limits the potential for further participation.

Plans have been made and building consent obtained to develop a spacious accommodation and dining area for the monks and those who attend retreats with more toilets and showers and a large warm hall where people can meditate and read books.

The cost of the renovation is estimated at $600,000. Your gift, no matter what size, will be gratefully received and move us closer to developing this precious community facility.
