Young Onset Parkinson's fighter needs new camera

$3,217 of $4,000 goal
Given by 52 generous donors in around 3 months

I am struggling to replace my camera and lens due to the year-by-year decline in income since my Young Onset Parkinson's diagnosis.

Waikato

Hello!

Hi my name is Damon Marshall (born 1974). At the age of 37 I was diagnosed with Young/Early Onset Parkinson's Disease (YOPD) - a rare (because of my age), degenerative disorder effecting the motor system. I am married and we have two boys aged 16 and 12.

PLEASE CLICK GALLERY BUTTON ABOVE for diagnosis verification from my neurologist and proof of low income 'Community Services Card'.

Also, you can find out more about my journey here: https://www.facebook.com/youngonsetparkinsonsdisease/

Since diagnosis I cannot explain how much the discovery of photography is helping me fight back this cruel disease. As a creative outlet, as a way to take my mind off what/how I'm feeling, as a means to making some incredible new friends, even as a way to make some income.

Unfortunately my camera that I brought second hand two years ago is starting to fault and is fast becoming unreliable to take on photo shoots.

I have only used Olympus cameras and am interested in this model, which is the upgraded model from what I currently have: https://www.getolympus.com/us/en/e-m1-mark-ii.html and will also need a new lens to help me achieve my goals.

Currently my primary income is by Graphic Design and Wordpress Web Builds. However there is nothing I would love more than creating more of my income by means of photography. Photography is a more sensible career path for me because it means less passive time sitting at a desk - staring at a screen. I can get up and about and interact with a variety of people, and feel the satisfaction of a rewarding job done.

I am struggling to replace the camera myself due to the year-by-year decline in income I have endured since diagnosis. Perhaps you are all familiar with this famous proverb, "Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime." Well, all I'm asking for is the tools to catch the fish.

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.

Warmest regards,

Damon Marshall

Damo.

Very best wishes Damo. Fantastic gesture by Olympus. The E-M1 MKII is awesome as is the 40-150mm f2.8 lens. Hopefully you can continue to expand the Olympus kit and keep at your terrific photography. Cheers from a fellow Olympus lover.
