Ella Derry Young Female Wrestler off to the Youth Olympics!
Bay of Plenty
Wrestling is one of the original Olympian sports known to man.
Ella Derry has been wrestling since she was about 6 years old, following along to her brother's practices, then joining in and then over the last few years she has become a champion female wrestler in freestyle wrestling.
Ella has set goals to keep moving forward in this little known sport here in NZ, (but in the world there are over 300 million registered wrestlers) she achieved one of her goals earlier this year by gaining entry to and attending the Oceania games, held in Guam, coming home with a Gold in her division, 43kg.
Her next goal is to make it to the Youth Olympics being held in Argentina in October 2018. Now she has qualified and is training hard, with her family and friends all behind her, lets see her bring home another Gold for NZ, Woman and Wrestling!
We are Ella's parents and we want to see her succeed at her goal of representing NZ at the Youth Olympic Games in October 2018
The Youth Olympics are not fully funded so any assisstance is greatly appreciated and will go towards travel costs, training and uniform.
