On July 2nd 2021 my Mum Diane was rushed to hospital with a blot clot in her brain and suffered a severe stroke which has left her with her whole right side paralysed. Unfortunatly this is her dominent side which makes things alot harder for her.
Mum suffers from MS too and has come out the other side of a few tough times due to flare ups... Thankfully the MRI scan showed her MS is stable and no change.
Two and a half years ago Mum fell off a ladder at work and landed on her head on the concrete floor leavng her suffering from sevre concussion, which she still suffers from to this day.
Mum worked full time and was at her work place for coming up 20 years. Mum and my Dad (who is semi-retired) are bringing up their grandaughter (my neice) and have done since she was 3 month old. Mum also loved going to her evening gym classes after work, and at 61 years of age she was pretty impressive at the gym, alot of people said she was an inspiration to them! Mum is one of the good souls out there, always willing to help when someone is in need, a good friend, my go to when i need advise or just need a chat, has a big heart, loves a good laugh with whanau and friends and of course over a glass of gin!
Mum is a very strong, independent, stubborn and determined lady and has made some amazing progress in the short time she has been there, we are all very proud of her! And although its going to take some time, and there will be alot of emotional ups and downs, we are very confident she will walk out of that hospital with her head held high knowing she worked very hard to learn to walk again and walk out on her own when the time comes that she can eventually go home. Mum is currently in the Rehab Ward where she is going to be for quite sometime receiving Speach Therapy and Physio.
Mum needs to focus all her energy on her recovery which means putting work on hold for a undetermined amount of time. Due to loss of income (sick pay has run out and so has annual leave) money is a stress at the moment that is not necessary when there is aready enough to think about. To enable mum to truely rest and recover to her fullest capacity, reducing any financial expenses in the likes of household bills, power, food, wood to keep Dad and my neice warm, school fees and just those pesky everyday/weekly outgoings is going to be such a huge help and weight of Mum and Dads minds.
Mum is definitly not the type to ask for help and when she does need help finds it very hard to ask, so when i mentioned i was going to set this up for them, she got pretty embarressed! But any amount of koha will be truely appreciated and will make the world of difference to them by helping them live comfortably without too many worries until they can get back to somewhat normal life again. We will be forever thankful!
If you are not in any position to koha, just a share would be appreciated!
