I am travelling to Vietnam to volunteer my time for four weeks at the Paediatrics Hospital in Hanoi.
Wellington
After recently graduating from university I am travelling to Vietnam at the beginning of January to stay in a volunteer house in Hanoi. I will be working to provide much needed support caring for the children at the National Hospital of Paediatrics and also for the children based at a Friendship Village in Hanoi. I am doing this work through a UK based program called Plan My Gap Year that offers a range of volunteer programs world wide.
At the Paediatrics Hospital volunteers work to create regular activities and engagement for the children in order to improve their psychological well-being. The overall purpose of bringing volunteers to the hospital is to create an environment where the children can grow, play and learn with adults who are respectful and understanding of their needs.
The Friendship Village is a living, health, and educational centre for children living with the effects of dioxins from the herbicide “Agent Orange”. The centre also provides healthcare to war veterans. The role of the volunteers is to support teaches and staff who work and play with the children.
The program requires the volunteers to cover the costs involved in creating and maintaining an organised and safe platform to engage in meaningful volunteer work. Programme fees cover food, accommodation, support and local transport for the volunteers.
I greatly appreciate any donations to held me fund this life changing experience. Thank you for assisting me to give my time and love to children who truly deserve it.
