Auckland
INTRODUCTION
'She’ll Be Right: A Zombie Romp' is a full-length, original Kiwi, comedic, ensemble book musical written and composed by local writing duo Brayden Jeffrey and Adam Spedding.
New Zealand Music Theatre Company & The Other People with generous support from Auckland Live, bring ‘She’ll Be Right’ to life in its entirety for the very first time with this Live Development Reading in Auckland home of Music Theatre, The Civic - Wintergarden!
‘She’ll Be Right: A Zombie Romp’ follows solo mother, Gaylen Granger, as she attempts to save a group of misfits from the end of days. Along the way she’s tested by brash George Lee, who unrightfully believes that he should be in charge. Who will live? Who will lead?
7-years in the making, come and enjoy this first glimpse at a new kiwi musical delivered by a stellar line up of artists, and show your appreciation towards these exciting new home-grown music theatre writers.
PRODUCTION HISTORY:
'She'll Be Right: A Zombie Romp' began as an idea of Adam Spedding who was studying music theatre at the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) in Christchurch, NZ at the time and took it to his childhood friends Brayden and Liam.
During this seven-year development process, 'She'll Be Right: A Zombie Romp' has been subject to multiple smaller live readings and also a mini-workshops (songs and scenes). Feedback and input have been provided on the script and the music which gave guidance to the early stages of development. Currently, up to version 19 of the script, the show now exists as a full written musical including music and dialogue. The creatives and actors have been workshopping and rehearsing over the last 6 weeks and we are ready to show you the latest version!
