Zuzu's got a sore leg - help us make her feel better <3

Hello, we are Purrs & Beans, New Zealand longest running cat café, located in Birkenhead, Auckland. Zuzu is one of our OG torties who has been with us since the very start when we first opened back in 2015.

Last week, we brought Zuzu to the vet as we had started to notice some weakness and muscle loss in her left hind leg. While X-rays revealed no signs of arthritis or dislocation, there was some swelling in the joint. The main concern was that there appears to be an abnormality in her spine which can be associated with disc disease, instability, or nerve irritation.

On discussion with the vet, we have decided to see how she responds to pain relief. If we see little to no improvement, the recommendation is she be referred to a specialist for advanced imaging.

The vet visits from last week ended up costing nearly $2,000. We are a small, independently-run social enterprise with all proceeds contribute towards our cats' care. We are committed to giving our cats the best level of care possible but the reality is we are still experiencing a downturn in business due to the ongoing rising costs so this has added even more financial pressure on us.
