Fundraising for Hospice Wanganui
Whanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui
Since moving to Whanganui, I've felt like I've joined an incredible community. Marrying my amazing wife, a dedicated hospice doctor, means I've essentially married into the hospice family! Every day, I hear about the amazing work and compassion of all the staff.
Apart from supplying necessary fuel for Libby (e.g. her favourite lasagne), I wanted to contribute more substantially and raise money for the hospice. So, what better way to show my support than by lacing up my running shoes and hitting the road for 100km? Yep, that's right, I'm RUNNING 100km! No driving, walking or crawling allowed!
On the 12th of October 2024, I'm taking on the 100 km ultra marathon in Taupo (https://www.taupoultra.co.nz/100km-run). This will be the longest distance I have ever attempted to run. Putting my efforts into this challenge will reflect the dedication demonstrated by all of the hospice staff and support patient care.
Join me on this crazy journey as I run my socks off for hospice. Your support will help me push through the blisters, sweat, and the inevitable moments of "Why did I sign up for this again?". Together, we can make a real difference for our local hospice. Let's do this!
We've done it!!! 13 October 2024
100km later, my legs are shot, but my heart is full. I finished the race in 12 hours and 26 minutes but my toes suffered for it (they all went purple). A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated and supported me, you made a real difference!
Together, we’ve raised over $2000 for hospice care, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Now, it's time for a well-deserved rest (and maybe a foot massage).
