102km for Mary Potter Hospice

  • Race Update

      31 January 2022

    Good evening everyone.

I just wanted to provide an update in light of recent events. As some of you may know already, the Tarawera Ultramarathon where I was supposed to run the 102km course as part of this fundraiser has been cancelled for 2022.

When I heard the news of the traffic light system coming into effect it was pretty much the nail in the coffin for the race. However, once I heard the news I immediately went into solutions mode. Actually, that’s not entirely true. I sulked for a few hours then went into solutions mode.

I’ve decided that I will still be going ahead with this challenge one way or another. In Rotorua on the 12th of February I’ll be doing my own version of the 102km run. How this looks will be decide closer to the time but the main thing to know is… it shall be done!

Thank you to every single one of you that have donated so far. I never had of thought so many people would rally behind this cause and contribute so many generous donations.

I’m forever grateful for you all.

    Cheers,

    Ben

    Hey Team,

Wow! Thank you for your Support so far. I’m truly taken back by the generosity of you all who have donated. I’d never have thought I’d get close to my goal of $1000. With the amazing support I’ve received so far I thought that it would be a great idea to extend my goal a bit and my ambition. I have a few posts by other supporters in my circle over the coming weeks still to come through social media and other people following my journey.

If you have donated already, thank you so so so much! Uncle Andrew would be extremely grateful and so will the Mary Potter Hospice. If you want to continue to support me and the hospice, feel free to share the Givealittle link on social media or directly with friends and family.

With that though, it’s the end of what was a tough year. I’ve just got in my last long training run in and believe I’ve earned a solid meal tomorrow. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy your break with the ones around and I wish you all the best for 2022!

    Let’s go!

    Thanks,

    Ben
