Before Ben’s tragic death in August 2020, he had been planning a campaign. A strong advocate for epilepsy, Ben wanted to raise awareness about the condition and funds for his chosen charity, Epilepsy New Zealand.
Ben wanted to encourage those who deal with the difficulties and judgements of life with epilepsy to be bold, to live courageously, and to pursue their goals and dreams.
Honouring his legacy and the plans he had started, Ben’s family decided that💜 Purple Day - (or the Saturday nearest to it) would be dedicated to Ben and his campaign, #10kmsforbenmay, each year. This year our event was held on 💜Saturday 22nd March 2025. 💜
