12 Marathons in 12 Months for Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand

  • Long time no update!

      9 November 2025

11 marathons completed for Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand, one marathon 2 go.

This year has been a crazy journey, learning a lot about my body, running, balance, and how amazing humans are.

The support I have received this year has been truly immense and one of the key reasons that have helped to make running 42.2km each month that little bit more comfortable. Running for CFNZ is as strong of a purpose I have needed to dig as deep as I have needed to month after month to help fundraise as much money for them as possible. To give back to a group that have helped many throughout NZ impacted by CF.

December 14 marks the date for the last marathon down at the Auckland Domain, I would love for you to be there, come down and make some noise!

    Thank you,

    BPS

  • Overdue Update

      27 March 2025

This is a long overdue update but here I am!

Firstly, thank you to everyone that has donated and contributed to my goal of raising $25,000 for Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand.

I have completed 2 marathons since the last update, and have now completed 3/12. The second marathon took place on Tamaki Drive with an awesome bunch of people coming in and out helping to create an incredible experience once again for myself on this journey. The third marathon was down in Pauanui part of the Pauanui Half Marathon. I did half alone before the event started and then the second half part of the event. It was the first time I had taken even a single step alone during a marathon EVER, and it was very beneficial for me. It made the tough moments tougher, but at the same time was mentally strengthening. I had time to reflect on my mission and remind myself why I am doing this mission and who I am trying to give back to. Attached is a YouTube video put together by Kavel, who captured our time down in Pauanui.

Currently I am a week and a half out from marathon 4 which will be a part of the Waterfront Half marathon. The first half will be run up and down Tamaki Drive and then joining up with the Waterfront half marathon for the second half.

Overall, I am happy with the progress I am making on this journey. Although March was a slower month of the fundraising front, it was a faster month on the cup filling front. I continue to move for CFNZ, and each step gets me closer to achieving my goal.

  • Marathon 1/12 Completed

      12 January 2025

First marathon of the year completed, 11 more to go.

Was a beautiful morning for running up and down Tamaki drive. A lot more people came down and got involved than what I was expecting, which is great to see and appreciate everyone showing their support for myself and Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand.

With today's run we crossed the $1000 mar which is incredible! 1/25th of the goal.

Looking forward to the next marathon on the 22nd second of Feb.

    Thank you, Ben.
