I know you’ll be eager to know how it went 💜
5 October 2025Firstly I am just so over the moon with the amazing support from YOU - $11,175 is a huge sum for camp purple. You are directly impacting children’s lives with your donation! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I’m currently horizontal with my feet up. If you’re CHCH based you would have seen torrential rain and high winds on the forecast. It was manageable in the early hours/through the evening where I reached huge personal bests for 100km and 100mile distance. I’m very sad to let you know that at 168km I was pulled off course for being hypothermic - I was in a very bad way and another athlete recognised I was in an unsafe position. She sacrificed her race to turn around and head back in the direction of race hun/contacted marshals. I was in an absolute state, now that I’m coherent it was actually very frightening. I initially said I’d like to continue on however race directors made the call for health and safety which I fully respected.
So unfortunately I only made it to 19 hours, 53 minutes and 168km. I am very disappointed and sad because the goal was in sight. This is one of those things you cannot control. I’ll be reliving this experience over in my head over the coming weeks and the silver linings will shine I know. For now I rest and I can be so incredibly proud of the huge amount of money raised for our kids living with Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitits.

What an incredible effort. Well done Samira. All that money raised. You gave it your all. I’m sure if the weather had played ball you would have made it! Be proud. You did great!
