Firstly I am just so over the moon with the amazing support from YOU - $11,175 is a huge sum for camp purple. You are directly impacting children’s lives with your donation! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I’m currently horizontal with my feet up. If you’re CHCH based you would have seen torrential rain and high winds on the forecast. It was manageable in the early hours/through the evening where I reached huge personal bests for 100km and 100mile distance. I’m very sad to let you know that at 168km I was pulled off course for being hypothermic - I was in a very bad way and another athlete recognised I was in an unsafe position. She sacrificed her race to turn around and head back in the direction of race hun/contacted marshals. I was in an absolute state, now that I’m coherent it was actually very frightening. I initially said I’d like to continue on however race directors made the call for health and safety which I fully respected.

So unfortunately I only made it to 19 hours, 53 minutes and 168km. I am very disappointed and sad because the goal was in sight. This is one of those things you cannot control. I’ll be reliving this experience over in my head over the coming weeks and the silver linings will shine I know. For now I rest and I can be so incredibly proud of the huge amount of money raised for our kids living with Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitits.

What an incredible effort. Well done Samira. All that money raised. You gave it your all. I’m sure if the weather had played ball you would have made it! Be proud. You did great!

My friends, because of you we are very close to sending five children to Camp Purple. I am in awe of the generosity and support I have received.

My race starts at 2pm tomorrow 4/10 at Hagley Park and finishes 2pm Sunday. Should you be local I would love to see you there. I’ve attached the course map for you, blue lines are best for spectators. For those out of town, you can check in via this link:

Thank you for believing in this cause, and believing in me. I hope to do you proud!

  • 💜 We made it to $5k! 💜

      31 July 2025

There aren’t words to express how grateful I am to everyone that has donated so far. Thank you! The feedback from parents who’s children live with IBD is that the self esteem and confidence is restored at Camp Purple - the volunteer team or Dr’s, Nurses, Counsellors, dieticians and all around helpers leave a lasting impact on these kids lives. I’ve decided to raise the stakes to $7200 which would fund 4x children to attend 5 days at Camp Purple. Please continue to share the fundraiser.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone that has donated so far. I’m almost at my first goal of $5000 - and I’m determined that in the 10 weeks I have left before my event, we can exceed this dramatically.

I’m asking for your help - how can this fundraiser get MORE exposure? Can you share this page with the company you work for, family friends or on your social media? Would you consider starting a work place running challenge to help me raise funds? Do you know a company that has a fundraising budget that may be interesting in supporting camp purple?

I’d love your ideas and action to get MORE exposure for this incredible cause - as an adult living with Crohn’s disease, I know a camp like Camp Purple would have been a life changing experience - our kids deserve it.

I’m currently away in Australia, training will not stop. Keep an eye out for an upcoming video diary of a weeks training as I prepare to run 200km in 24 hours for Camp Purple 💜

  • 💜 OVER HALF WAY … Already! 💜

      9 July 2025

I got home from this mornings training run to see the great news. Unreal that we are over half way to my fundraising goal in such a short time! Thank you so much for all donations, and keep sharing the love with anyone who may want to get behind this amazing cause.

This morning was VERY uninspiring - cold, drizzly and windy in CHCH. It’s days like these that it can be hard to get up and train in the dark. I reminded myself today of my own Crohn’s Disease journey - there have been many times that I’ve been bed ridden unable to move my body. Being in remission post surgery means that training is something I GET to do, not something I HAVE to do. It’s a privilege to be able to train to this level, without the stress of a Crohn’s symptoms. This is my why.

Thank you so much again - My 200km run in 24 hours will be happening on 4/10/26.

    Samira x
