Donning my backpack for their backpacks. Help me raise money for I Got Your Backpack, and support survivors of domestic violence.
Nationwide
It’s not often I ask for money. But it’s also not often I walk over 3000km down the length of a country.
In October of this year, having been waiting (and still not really preparing), I am walking Te Araroa, the Long Pathway. This journey will take me from the mighty Cape Reinga to Bluff.
More importantly, however, I'm raising money for an incredibly worthy cause – I Got Your Backpack, a charity who provide emergency backpacks for survivors of domestic violence. I'm donning my backpack for their backpacks.
So keep me accountable with your coins - I am aiming to raise a dollar for ever kilometre I cover. While my shoes and merino may wear down, my determination doesn’t have to.
We did it!! 13 April 2023
I don't even know where to begin.
We did it.
3026km of muesli bars, mud and magic. The absolute privilege of exploring my beautiful Aotearoa.
My legs are scratched and bruised and creaky. My socks are now toxic waste. I'm pretty sure everything stinks. But I'm so proud and over the freaking MOON that we actually did it! And what a wild ride it's been.
I've learned how to keep on top of my emotions when I start panicking or my brain starts working against me. I've learned to appreciate the simple things - a fresh towel, running water, sitting down.
The sense of community on trail is like nothing else. Shared suffering makes for fast friends!
To everyone who's donated - YOU'RE the hero. Thank you so much for your words, your kind offerings and for following my adventure. Its been a HUGE boost when I've been feeling worn down and it'll make a huge difference to the lives of so many people.
