3000km for hope

I don't even know where to begin.

    We did it.

3026km of muesli bars, mud and magic. The absolute privilege of exploring my beautiful Aotearoa.

My legs are scratched and bruised and creaky. My socks are now toxic waste. I'm pretty sure everything stinks. But I'm so proud and over the freaking MOON that we actually did it! And what a wild ride it's been.

I've learned how to keep on top of my emotions when I start panicking or my brain starts working against me. I've learned to appreciate the simple things - a fresh towel, running water, sitting down.

The sense of community on trail is like nothing else. Shared suffering makes for fast friends!

To everyone who's donated - YOU'RE the hero. Thank you so much for your words, your kind offerings and for following my adventure. Its been a HUGE boost when I've been feeling worn down and it'll make a huge difference to the lives of so many people.

Wowowow when did 200km sneak up on me like that? I can't believe we're only 10 days (give or take) from the finish line.

There have been some INSANELY generous people in the last couple of weeks that have boosted me closer to my goal, and I'm SO grateful. Please help me get there by spreading the word ❤️

The weather has turned pretty chilly down here, so we're dealing with feelings of both being so ready and so not ready to finish. But most importantly, we had SNOW!

I also just enjoyed my 30th birthday surrounded by other stinky hikers, seeing beautiful snow capped mountains behind glistening lakes, and having happy birthday sung at me several times. It was the perfect day.

Thank you endlessly for the support. Your messages and donations are a HUGE boost to my mood and soul happiness.

Astonishingly, the finish line is in sight. Murky, blurry, and you have to squint a bit to see it - but it's definitely there.

The South Island has treated us to epic views, epics climbs, and very sore knees. It's been dramatic, cold, and with its fair share of sandflies and toilet-related drama.

Every day there is always a moment where u feel so lucky and so privileged to be on this incredible journey, even if it does make me very grumpy sometimes.

To you - thank you for your support, for helping keep me going on this ridiculous adventure. Every dollar gives me SUCH a boost, and I am endlessly grateful.

  • We are back in business, baby!

      11 October 2022

It's been a torturous year and of waiting, planning, spending more money that I probably should have done on even more gear I probably didn't really need... but I'm proud to announce that YES! In less than 7 days' time I will be donning my overpacked bag (I've only just managed to convince myself not to take deodorant) and finally taking my first steps into 3000km.

Come with me on the journey of a lifetime, raising money for I Got Your Backpack, an incredible charity doing amazing things for people in a very vulnerable space.

    See you out there!
