3,000kms for me: a longer journey for a mate

$9,105 donated

Dennis is biking 3,000kms: can you support his ride by donating to Parkinsons New Zealand?

Nationwide

It has been a long-held ambition of mine to ride the Tour Aotearoa – a bike journey from the top of the Nth Island to the bottom of the Sth Island. It's a 3,000km bike route designed by the Kennett Brothers and the route includes many of Aotearoa’s famous bike trails.

While the ride will be challenging for me (at the age of 73yrs), I reflect on the challenges that a good mate of mine is having on his journey with Parkinson’s disease. It seems right to have a cause beyond self, and therefore I wish to raise donations to Parkinson’s New Zealand during my ride.

Donations of any value are important in supporting the work of Parkinson’s New Zealand.

You can track my progress at https://touraotearoa2024.maprogress.com/#participants-list

Search for ‘Dennis Millard’, ‘Denbike’ or my bike’s name ‘Parker’.

And will I make the 3,000kms to Bluff? I most surely will: I have wife, children and grandchildren urging me on ... as well as biking mates and my Rotary colleagues.

Tour Aotearoa presentation at The Helier  30 May 2024

I enjoyed presenting my Tour Aotearoa journey to residents and guests at The Helier last week - a venue with sumptuous facilities and surroundings. Olivier Lacoua, The GM at The Helier arranged 'the wine room' as the venue and provided an excellent morning tea. Many thanks Olivier - we all appreciated your hosting.

Kind regards

Dennis

Dennis, your presentation last Friday of your impressive achievement was motivating and entertaining - along with great photography. I look forward to enjoying it a second time when you also speak to Rotary.

Many thanks Peter for your generous donation. The after-bike-ride-speaking-circuit is rewarding for me as well, as I can give-back a little to the people who supported me on the ride and supported fund-raising for Parkinsons NZ. And perhaps I have inspired a few to also start a peddling adventure! Best regards Dennis

Many thanks Craig for your generous donation to Parkinson's NZ. I know it will be greatly appreciated by them, and the people they support. What started as a simple plan to ride the TA has turned into something much bigger than self, and I am humbled by the continuing support. Thank you. Kind regards, Dennis

Many thanks Warren for your donation to Parkinson's NZ. It is gratifying to find that a simple plan to ride the TA from Cape Reinga to Bluff, has turned out to be a much bigger endeavour than self. I look forward to talking to your Alpine Sports Club in July. Kind regards, Dennis
