I did it!! 4 November 2013
I think it is finally sinking in that I have pretty much achieved my goal! We haven't quite raised the $10,000 that I was aiming for, the total is currently somewhere just over $7,000 but I think that will continue to increase over the next few days. I have ridden 31 Ks for 31 Days which is what I set out to do. I managed to ride over 1000 km in a month. It took over 70 hours and that was just the actual riding time.... 31 Ks for 31 Days has been a challenge physically, mentally and emotionally. I have learnt a lot about myself, about training and about certainly about riding! I have also learnt what an amazing community we have and how much people really pull together to support a worthy cause. I have been honoured to ride with some incredible people, people I have learnt from and had fun riding with. This challenge is something I have needed to do for a long, long time and completing it successfully has meant so much to me. Thank you so much to all of you who have supported me and helped me in one way or another to achieve this huge milestone. Special thanks to my sponsors Nzo, Cyclezone, Central Design & Print, Magellan, Blue Dog Media, Mead Norton, Canmap Hawley, NDuro Events and Whaka 100.... As always I owe so much to my family who have been behind me from the minute I announced my crazy idea to them! My Mum is the real legend of all this, she's ridden over 300 km with me in the last month! Go Mum! To everyone who has come out riding with me, thank you so much! You have helped me more than you will know. Also, thanks to those I ran the idea past first, for not telling me I was daft, for believing in me and encouraging me to get out and do it. And to everyone who has made a donation, thank you for making this all worthwhile. Your support for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand is what this is all about. Never underestimate what you can achieve if you set your mind to it! Just get out there and do it. Lastly, it's not to late to donate! Visit www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/31Ksfor31Days. Oh, and get on ya bike!
