Participating in Big Challenge for Little Kids 2023
Lower Hutt, Wellington
In summer this year, I had the privilege of attending Camp Quality's Wellington Region summer camp in Marton with my amazing, bubbly and strong camper Bri as her companion. Camp Quality is designed to give children living with cancer a week to "be a kid" again, giving them a space to be their beautiful and fun-loving selves! They partake in a vast range of activities, providing them with an unimaginable action packed week centred around them having fun! It is truly a one of a kind experience witnessing them constantly smiling and seeing them just being a kid!
I have decided to tackle the challenge of running not only my first half marathon but running 4 half marathons before Camp Quality 2024. In the past, I would struggle to run any further than 5km, with the only event I would ever partake in being my local ParkRun in Lower Hutt. This is a huge challenge for myself, a huge out of my comfort zone experience. My first one is June 24th in Wellington, followed by August 26th in Mt Maunganui, October 7th in Mt Cook and lastly 4th November in Martinborough!
It is my absolute pleasure to be able to tackle this 4 half marathon challenge whilst attempting to help fundraise for these kids to attend camp in 2024. It costs approximately $1500 per child to attend Camp Quality, a volunteer charitable trust. I would appreciate it so much if you could help me by donating to this very deserving cause as I push myself through 4 half marathons. Thank you so much for your support.
