Fundraising for I Am Hope Foundation
Christchurch, Canterbury
I am aiming to raise $5000 for I Am Hope.
Previously myself and a friend raised over $6000 for Curekids by doing the coast to coast on gym equipment.
After seeing Mike King speak at the Fight For Life, I have decided to do a challenge to raise funds for this charity.
This year I will be running (and walking when needed) 4km, every 4 hours, for 48 hours (48km over the two days). This is based off a David Goggins challenge. The difference being, I do not enjoy running. At age 12 I was told that it would be unlikely I would run again after a severe accident. After this accident I went through my own challenges. My foot was rebuilt after multiple surgeries and I have back and knee issues due to the ongoing issues caused by these injuries.
I've also lost friends due to suicide and had other friends who have battled with their mental health.
This challenge will be more of a mental challenge, as the longest sleep I will get over those two nights will be 3.5 hours at best. I also have issues running outdoors due to my injuries so I am aware of the pain I will feel, although it is only a drop in the bucket compared to what some people, and their families, are dealing with day to day.
I know coming into Christmas, funds can be tight, but any donation is much appreciated. I aim to complete this challenge between Xmas and New Years.
