Louis needs help with his fearfulness so he can go on to his forever home!
Auckland
We are fostering Louis on behalf of Chained Dog Awareness. He's a bit over three years old and has suffered neglect and abuse his entire life. Despite his treatment he still wants to be with people, but requires some intensive training to get him over his fear and aggression to other dogs.
We don't know exactly what happened to this lovely boy, but his body is absolutely covered in scars. His original fosters were shocked at his condition. He was malnourished and had almost no fur due to untreated mange and other skin complaints, from his reaction to loud voices or a raised hand it seems clear that someone in his past had beaten him.
He has come a long way over the last three months, his previous fosters have done amazing work with him and we continue to try and help him with his journey. But his issues with other dogs cannot be ignored and it's clear that we need professional help to get him ready for his forever home.
Our only real option is to send Louis to a residential training camp, where Louis can acquire the life skills necessary for his new home.
We have had him assessed by the people at Good Dog Training and they believe that he will require three to four weeks with them to get him over his anxiety and the resulting aggression. This is going to cost around $3000.
We want to help give Louis the training he needs and deserves so he can find his forever home!
