Fundraising for Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust
Dunedin, Otago
I'm excited to share with you all that I'm taking on a challenge in May to raise funds for the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust. This organisation holds a special place in my heart as my late husband Darryl and I worked as rescue swimmers for many years. Sadly, Darryl passed away in May 2004, marking the 20th anniversary of his passing this year. To honour his memory and the incredible work of this trust, I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone by taking up running, something I'm not particularly skilled at. But this challenge is for a greater cause, as it represents the daily struggles people face and the challenges of those who are left behind after losing a loved one. So I'm asking for your support in this endeavour, as together we can make a difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you!

Well, it's day 17...a very poignant reminder of the reason behind this challenge. It was 20 years ago today that we lost an amazing human to suicide. This running challenge is in his memory, and highlights both the physical and mental challenges everybody face as they navigate life. Today, I tried to run up to Lee Stream beside the Taieri River where I spent a lot of fun times with Darryl. Unfortunately after 1 1/2 km the track is washed out so I had to turn back. It was nice to be beside the river though. Thanks so much to all of you who have been supporting me through this challenge. If you could it would be great if you would share this givealittle page to your social media. Our rescue chopper can't operate in the way it does without donations. Thanks again, Fi
