A Run a Day in May

  • Done and Dusted

      31 May 2024

Well that's it my friends. 31 days in a row. Some were easier than others. Today would have to be one of the easiest ones. It was 19 degrees and I went in the afternoon. I felt strong and fit so decided to push myself for the last one. Thank you so much for your support and donations. The funds raised will all go to help the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust. Those of you who live in the region probably know someone (if not yourself) who has needed their services. A special mention to those of you who don't live in the region but donated anyway (including a Strava swimming buddy from Germany). It was your donations that got me through the tough days, knowing there were people right behind me all the way. Thanks again!!! Fi xx

  • Two mistakes

      29 May 2024

Well, this morning I made two mistakes but neither of them was disastrous. Firstly, I chose not to take a jacket. I didn't realise how much it was raining until I got closer to the start point of my run today. Luckily I was running in dense bush so the rain was not penetrating through the canopy very much. The second mistake was the time I left home. I hit all the school drop-off traffic and it was bumper-to-bumper traffic the whole way. I'm really thankful I only have two days left of "A Run a Day in May" because it is getting really challenging to push myself out the door. Thanks again for your donation. It is only this that has kept me going each day.

  • Tough run

      21 May 2024

Hey Guys. Last night I had to run after work at 10.30 pm and it was the toughest run yet! I've been keeping the runs to 2k the last few days, because my calves are feeling quite tight, probably due to running on footpaths a lot. Hopefully I can get back on the trails in the next few days. Thanks once again for your generous donations. Please share the link to the page to help me get more donations. I don't think there would be anybody living in Central Otago who doesn't have friends or family (or themselves) who have been on the receiving end of the great work by the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust. Thanks, Fi

  • Over halfway

      17 May 2024

Well, it's day 17...a very poignant reminder of the reason behind this challenge. It was 20 years ago today that we lost an amazing human to suicide. This running challenge is in his memory, and highlights both the physical and mental challenges everybody face as they navigate life. Today, I tried to run up to Lee Stream beside the Taieri River where I spent a lot of fun times with Darryl. Unfortunately after 1 1/2 km the track is washed out so I had to turn back. It was nice to be beside the river though. Thanks so much to all of you who have been supporting me through this challenge. If you could it would be great if you would share this givealittle page to your social media. Our rescue chopper can't operate in the way it does without donations. Thanks again, Fi

  • A week done and dusted

      7 May 2024

Well, that's a week of running under my belt. Thank you so much to all of you who have donated. It would be really helpful if you could share a link to this page on your social media to spread it far and wide. Thanks again.

  • First run down

      1 May 2024

Well, my first run is done. I just wanted to provide you with a few stats around the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Trust. The trust relies on community donations to support the service in the region. It is the largest and busiest in NZ, and in the 2022/23 financial year they flew 2121 missions (equates to 7 per day). Thanks again for your donation.

    Fi

  • Shit gets real

      30 April 2024

Hey everyone. Well tomorrow the sh*t gets real. I'll be attempting to run a minimum of 2k a day for the month of May. I will donate $5 for every day I achieve it and $10 on any days I don't! How much will you donate? I'm happy for you to give me an incentive by donating any amount. It all helps the rescue chopper. Cheers everyone, Fi
