Help support a unique group of extraordinary athletes who personify resilience of the human spirit....
Achilles Christchurch a group built upon a commitment to diversity and inclusion, supporting anyone who is physically challenged, whether that is from injury, illness, genetics or trauma be active.
Disabled or physically challenged athletes and able-bodied volunteers train together in an environment of support and community
We are sending a team from Christchurch to the New York marathon .... a 42.2km epic challenge .... not to forget the thousands of kilometers of training in preparation to get across the finish line!
Please help our team of Achilles athletes and guides be part of this once in a life time opportunity.
For us athletes, to be able to run, walk or wheel the New York marathon is a goal that is life changing...bringing a powerful sense of achievement, inspiration and self-esteem like none other. We've witnessed the wonder of being part of this experience from other disabled athletes who have gone before us...but we cant get there on our own.
We need your help to get our athletes and guides to the marathon... Our guides are vital, functioning as our eyes and ears ....guiding, training, motivating and most importantly providing companionship ... seeing beyond our disability and forming life long friendships.
Please contribute to our appeal and help us take this journey. In return we will share our journey with you - join us through the high's and and not-so-high's of training, the building excitement and anticipation, and celebrate in the excitement and achievement of crossing the finish line.
