Suicide prevention boxing fundraiser for The Key to Life Charitable Trust
Auckland
Hey guys, so I have finally plucked up the courage and doing a corporate boxing fight, yes finally got round to getting back in the ring after near 25 years.... This has been on my to do list for a number of years, but something always came up and gave me the excuse not to do it... to be honest when I signed up to the IT Heavy Hitters, I was looking for excuses before I even got to the gym.. "ah will this work around bubs, "will I have time through work to do it" all the usual excuses... but at the first session we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs and I thought I was going to take a banger, but I didnt.
The IT Heavy Hitters was set up 4 years ago by a group of guys who were all affected by suicide in some way. The charity all the money goes to is called I AM HOPE, if your in NZ you will know Mike King and the great work he is doing around suicide prevention in younger people. The boys all spoke on that first morning about the charity and the great work they do and it all sunk home and the excuses went flying out the window.
We all know someone affected by suicide and if there was a better educational program out there this may not have been the case. I personally have had a few close friends taken by suicide but have had a few best friends brothers and sisters taken by this horrible thing.
The more we can support this great cause and really get more education out there that its fine to ask for help, we have all been there.
Remember for everyone at home, your donation gets doubled from pound to NZ dolla.. please donate generously.
