WHY DID WE WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

Alana:

Planner by day, skater by night… well on the weekends anyway! I’ve been involved with QISC since my daughter joined the club, and over the years have been encouraged by her to get on ice and get skating! I love the challenge, and helping this amazing club to help our youth succeed in this wonderful sport.

Feleki:

Last year I encouraged people to take part. This year they returned the favour! I see this as a massive challenge - the learning of a new trick ... as an old dog! I bring no ice skating skill and hope to drop the helmet and knee pads before the big night. I apologise to the star that got me! It’s all about having a crack at new things!

DESCRIPTION OF QUEENSTOWN ICE ARENA "STARS ON ICE"

The event provides great entertainment for spectators with glitz, glamour, costuming, theming and popular music while supporting a local Club.

This years theme is "Days of Celebration" including music and costumes to support routines for Christmas, New Years Eve, Labour Day, Halloween, wedding day, Valentines Day and more!

Major sponsors of the event are the Queenstown Ice Arena and the Bruce Grant trust as well as the event being proudly supported and included in the programmes for both the Audi Quattro Winter Games and Gay Ski Week - 2 major events showcasing the Queenstown region in August/September.

There are 2 winners for the competition, the People’s Choice Winners - this is the couple who receive the most money raised through the Give A Little website, as well as the Judges Choice - selected on the final night from our panel of judges.

Make sure you come down and support not only the local Figure Skating Club but the local talents who have been up at the crack of dawn for weeks now practicing to bring their A game to the show on 2nd September, gates open from 6pm - $5 entry fee per person
