I hope that through me putting myself through a rather tough day, l can make someone else's day a little bit better.
It can feel helpless to watch from the side-lines, as those dear to me go through and having been through the cancer battle. This is why I have decided to partake in a bit of struggle to raise money that will help anyone that is faced with this challenge.
I will be competing in the Tarawera ultramarathon on Feb 13th to raise money for the Cancer Research Trust of New Zealand. I am no gifted runner and this will be a tough mental and physical battle for me. But it's nothing like the experience of treatment or the constant effect this disease has on the day to day for many New Zealanders.
This is a 102km run that will take everything I've got. I have an ambitious goal of raising $10,000, a little under $100 per km. There will be a live tracker to follow my progress, which I will email to all the donors prior to the event. so think of it as a ticket to a really long and slow sporting event!
Some stats about what this will take from me:
- 1950km of running in training / 3 pairs of running shoes
- 15-20 hours of running per week for 16+ weeks
- Aiming for around 12 hours / averaging 7 min km’s
- 10,800 calories on the day / ~120,000 Heart Beats / 98,000 Steps
To Donate please Scan the QR code or follow the link below. Please support in any way you can! Spare that $5 for a coffee, or the second pint on a Friday to help improve someone else's day!
I want to use my ability to train and compete in endurance sport to aid the great work The Cancer Research Trust of New Zealand does for everyday New Zealanders.
Thank you for donating! How to follow along 12 February 2021
