Put Your Foot Down for Youthlaw with the Auckland Law School Running Club

  • Race Day!

And so the day finally came! An hour earlier than we were expecting too, thanks to Daylight Savings! Lack of sleep aside it was a fabulous day of running. For a large portion of the Auckland Law School Running Club team, the Devonport Half-Marathon/10km/15km was their very first proper running event. And despite the number of hills in Devonport (elevation gain 342m) we even got a few Personal Bests!

Thank you to everyone who has both supported us throughout our training, and donated towards helping Youthlaw improve access to justice for young New Zealanders. Nga mihi nui.

Training Update from Alex Lambert & Olivia Manning...."Training has been going ok but between work and uni, sometimes it's pretty hard to fit a run in. I'm hoping it will all come together in the next three weeks!"

  • Jen Muhl Training Update

      12 August 2017
    Main image

Training Update from Jen Muhl: "Since I started running 6 months ago I have had a few exciting adventures! I ran more than 3 km for the first time, then more than 10km, 12km and even 17 km! For someone who never really ran and then decided to enter a half marathon it has been a bit of a crazy journey!! I've also had some interesting experiences, including confusing Ellerslie and Epsom and getting madly lost, going swimming in a mud puddle mid race and drowning my phone, and somehow not dying during night time runs through the forests of Albany!

Overall it's been a crazy journey but I'm so excited to see where it leads me in the future!" - Jen

      4 August 2017

  • Training Update (Jeannine Cheong)

      3 August 2017

Training Update from Jeannine Cheong: "I only just started training after exams so I'm feeling a little nervous about the actual run! Slowly working my way up but still running only at an average of 5 km. Working hard to improve my stamina. It's great that I leave near the beach, makes running more interesting. Also, because I'm always hungry, I am always faced with the question of "should I eat or run?"

Training Update from Maysie Chan (who took her training to Mt Maunganui last week!): "That feeling when you're breathing so hard from uphill stair sprints and people stop to ask you if you're okay! 😂 Who says running is boring?? Might not be the fastest but I made it up there :) It's the little achievements! #mtmaunganui #countdowntodevonport

  • Jess Mayhead: Best part of living on a hill is the view. Worst part is finishing every run on an uphill....

Training Update from Jess Mayhead: Hi everyone. Training has been up and down lately. I managed to do quite a lot of running while my partner Nicole was recovering from and then getting complications with her appendicitis. My appetite went way up, and I ended up putting on around 3 kgs although I think that was muscle because my clothes fit better. Slight problem though, now that Nicole is better I seem to have fallen off the wagon. Onwards and upwards though!

  • ALSRC represent! - Xterra Shakespear

      18 June 2017

So we're now well underway with training, and this weekend three of us ran in the Xterra Trail Running Series at Shakespear Park! James did the Long course (20km), and Nadia and Jen did the Mid course (10.5km). This was the first trail race for Nadia and Jen, and it was at once wicked, exhausting, fun, muddy and exhilarating. Road running is simply not the same!
