Put your foot down for Youthlaw with the Auckland Law School Running Club! Help NZ youth access justice and support student wellbeing.
Auckland
This year, in partnership with Equal Justice Project (EJP), 20 members of the Auckland Law School Running Club (ALSRC) are entering the Devonport Half Marathon in September to fundraise for Youthlaw.
Youthlaw is the ONLY organisation operating across NZ as a free community law centre for anyone under 25 who is unable to access legal help elsewhere. In 2008 the Ministry of Justice froze Community Law funding, so any donation, no matter how small, is highly appreciated.
Testimonial from a parent: “Our family is forever grateful for the support we received from YouthLaw especially the solicitor who took care of our son’s case. Her clear instructions and knowledge helped us to provide accurate and complete information to the committee at MoE who reviewed my son’s case. She pushed us and the whole team of specialists who took care of my son till the reports were complete and clear enough. We had tried 5 times with no success in the past. I wish I knew about your services earlier. Hopefully, my son’s life has turned to a better life thanks to YouthLaw. You provide invaluable services to the society. Words cannot describe how thankful we are.”
We've all got our own different goals - to cross the finish line in a 10km, to run the whole time, to run a sub-2-hour half...Your support will mean a lot to us as we head into training.
Race Day! 24 September 2017
And so the day finally came! An hour earlier than we were expecting too, thanks to Daylight Savings! Lack of sleep aside it was a fabulous day of running. For a large portion of the Auckland Law School Running Club team, the Devonport Half-Marathon/10km/15km was their very first proper running event. And despite the number of hills in Devonport (elevation gain 342m) we even got a few Personal Bests!
Thank you to everyone who has both supported us throughout our training, and donated towards helping Youthlaw improve access to justice for young New Zealanders. Nga mihi nui.
Thank you very much for your support and generosity!
