To raise funds so that I can attend the Be.Leadership Programme of 2018 run by Be.Accessible.
Wellington
Kia ora,
I have lived with multiple chronic pain conditions for more than half my life. During this time I have conquered school, university, volunteering, and work. The current challenge I have my eyes set on is completing the Be. Leadership Programme this year which is run by Be. Accessible.
Be. Accessible is a social change initiative, with the belief that every person has their part to play in the creation of accessibility regardless of how big or small the change. This change starts with leaders in our communities. It is about thinking of possibility rather than limitation, accessibility rather than disability, and innovation rather than status quo, for the 20% of New Zealanders who have an access need. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyqMjFgi5Vs
The Be. Leadership programme is for people who are passionate about accessibility, with the courage to host new conversations. It is a one-of-a-kind programme in New Zealand, taking participants through a year of exploration of different perspectives, questioning, laughter, self-discovery and accessibility-focused leadership.
I look forward to learning how I can grow my self-awareness in order to become a more accessible leader in my community.
I am one of fifteen people currently on the Be. Leadership Programme of 2018 where I hope to learn more about accessible leadership and what that means for me going forward. Although this programme is partially funded by the Ministry of Social Development we need to help out too.
