Fund a new Assistance Dog for Georgie.
Bay of Plenty
At just 7 years of age, our Assistance Dog Lobo (pictured) passed away in March 2021. Sadly he had a ruptured spleen and by the time we knew he was sick, it was too late to save him.
Our daughter Georgie, aged 11, has autism and Global Developmental Delay. She had been supported by Lobo since she was 5 years old. Initially tethered together, she had grown in confidence with his support and, at the end, was able to lead him (with adult supervision) on walks and in public places.
His death has been a huge loss to our family - most of all for Georgie.
We have been matched with a new Assistance Dog called Willow who is undergoing final training for Georgie. We are committed to continue to fundraise for her, and for the whole Assistance Dogs NZ programme.
With your support, we can help Georgie increase her independence and confidence, and give her a new companion to help keep her safe in public and lend emotional support.
Willow arrives 18 July 2021
Today, Willow arrived home! Tracy brought her with a bag of goodies - toys, bed, harness, lead, brushes, food and info! Monday 19th we start a week of training with Tracy to ensure our commands, both verbal and hand signals, are up to scratch, and to get us used to the way Willow walks and responds.
Georgie has spent all of the evening chattering away to her. The first day of our new way.
