Auckland Round the Bays - Running for Diabetes

We are going to run the Round the Bays Auckland on the 3rd of March in hope to fundraise for Diabetes NZ - Auckland Branch.

Hi, my name is Maia. I am a 15 year old Type One Diabetic. I was diagnosed in September 2017 after my older brother was diagnosed with the same condition in 2015. While we are both fit and healthy, living with Type 1 Diabetes is not easy. Type 1 Diabetes can not be controlled by diet and lifestyle changes. My borther and I have to inject insulin several times a day. I am striving to fundraise for Diabetes NZ to support their research, awareness programmes and education for people at risk and those with both Type One and Type Two Diabetes.

My friend, Mia, and I are planning to run the Round the Bays Auckland Event on the 3rd of March. This is an 8.4km run around the coast of Auckland City. While we choose to do this late, we still hope to raise some money for Diabetes NZ - Auckland Branch.

We completed the Round the Bays in under an hour. Thanks to everyone who donated! So far we have raised $705 for Diabetes NZ - Auckland Branch but donations are still open until Thursday.
