We are bringing clean water to children in the Pacific! So, wash your favourite PJs, get fundraising and we'll see you on July 23rd!
International
UNICEF New Zealand is the world's largest and most effective children's organisation. We support kids with their basic human rights all around the world, with clean water, food, education, medicine and protection.
At the moment UNICEF New Zealand is running a new campaign called Project Champions. Project Champions operates on a more local basis, supporting children in the Pacific Islands and Timor-Leste with clean water, sanitation and education. These three things are among the most important for children's development into healthy adults, however unfortunately many children go without. In Timor-Leste only 17% of children go to preschool.
UNICEF has the power to change this, by bringing toilets, clean drinking water facilities and quality education to children all throughout the Pacific Islands. With clean drinking water and hand-washing facilities, these children will stay healthier for longer and be able to stay in school. With better education for everyone, these children will have more opportunities ahead of them and be able to develop their communities for the better.
We have a lot of amazing support behind this project because of it's significance to our communities. UNICEF is in a partnership with MFAT(Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade) with Project Champions, meaning that for every dollar we raise, the NZ Government matches it by up to 4 times. Today, for your support, you will be getting up to 5 times the humanitarian assistance in the Pacific Islands. This is why UNICEF is running an event with AUSA to help fundraise and bring clean water and education to these kids. The event will be a PJ Day on Friday the 23rd of July in the Garden Room at Shadows. There will be free BBQ Brunch available, plus some awesome prizes for our best fundraisers.
To get involved and help UNICEF, register as one of our fundraisers on this Givealittle page, and raise as much money as you can before Friday the 23rd. Those of you who fundraise a minimum of $20 for Project Champion will receive a free breakfast on us as a big THANK YOU! For the amazing students who manage to go above and beyond, we have fantastic supporter T-shirts and Hoodies for you, plus a special prize for our top fundraiser.
Here are the thresholds for the prizes:
Breakfast = $20
T-shirt = $200
Hoodie = $500
1st place/best fundraiser gets special prize
We are very excited to get you all involved with UNICEF and can't wait to see you in your PJ's on the 23rd!
I am a student at Auckland University and a fundraiser for UNICEF NZ, so I have seen and heard about the amazing work UNICEF does in the Pacific and I want to do more to help.
