Paul ‘Shredder’ Deavoll, General Manager, Customer and Stakeholder – Orion.

What is your cooking experience? I’m reasonably handy in the kitchen. The more time I have the more adventurous I’m likely to be. I prefer savoury so you won’t find me whipping up fancy deserts. Dessert is Ice Cream in my world.

What is your signature dish? Weekend breakfasts see me land some pretty mean poached eggs but when time permits, for dinner, it’s a slow roasted leg of fresh lamb, roast fresh vegetables and peas are a must!

Why are you putting yourself on the line? I strongly believe that every child deserves equality in making the most of their educational opportunities. Commencing school with confidence is a key part of building a sense of belonging and purpose. I recognise this is not easy for all families because beginning school is an expensive phase and families often have more than one child going through this process. I started my own career teaching and I’ve experienced first-hand the challenges young people face in making a really positive start, in a new school environment. I want to do my bit to assist the City Mission to support families to help our young people be the very best that they can be.
