Running for life! 50km ultra marathon Hastings sports park -> Waipukurau

Hastings, Hawke's Bay

On June the 4th 2022 I was diagnosed with Bowel cancer.

A tumor showed up deep in my bowel which later spread to my liver.

Not the kind of news anybody wants to hear.

I had to regather my thoughts but still asked the questions.

WHY?

Where do I go from here?

What do I do?

How can I be a better husband, father, to all my kids and moko?

My focus was more on living life to the fullest, rather than think about the CANCER.

Life has its setbacks but it also has its setups

When noticed, we are able to live life day by day enjoying the benefits of living in the blessings that Christ has prepared for us.

For many cancer has been the beginning of the end.

For me it was the beginning of a new life teaching me the most important things in life is Christ, Family, time and love

After 6 weeks of radiation, 6 months of chemotherapy & 4 major surgeries.

I am still here and still recovering. I am so grateful to have survived this thus far.

My goal is to to run an ultra Marathon to show others that we can

ALWAYS LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST

On April 12th 2025 Myself and good friend Storm Delamere are lacing up our shoes to do a 50km ultra marathon run.

Starting at the Hastings Sports Centre & finishing up in the township of Waipukarau.

Our aim is to raise as much money as we can for the Cancer Society Of Hawkes Bay

They have helped so many people and have made life a lot more easier for all those going through the journey of living with cancer, including myself.

Please your donation would be greatly appreciated!

Kia ora bro, An absolute privilege to join you. Jumping in at the tail end was a blessing — any earlier and we wouldn't have had the kaha! But you did it. You, Storm, and everyone who carried the kaupapa with you. You didn’t just talk the talk — you lived it. Surrounded by whānau, with Sis holding it down, the tamariki and mokopuna backing you all the way. From diagnosis to recovery, you’ve turned pain into purpose. This ultra wasn’t just a run — it was a declaration. That life is still here to be lived. That God’s not done. We’re proud. We’re grateful. And we’re standing with you, always. Enjoy Raro — you and Sis have more than earned it. Arohanui, Darryl, Case & whānau "Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." – Philippians 1:6
