We completed the Central South Island Charity Bike Ride on Saturday. The photo was taken of those of us in The Bears before we left on day 1. We had an amazing time away meeting new people. There were some tough moments but all of our training paid off. We just want to thank you all from the bottoms of our hearts to you amazing donors. We are so appreciative of what you have done to support both us, Heart Kids South Canterbury, as well as seven other charities ❤️

In one month's time on the 18th of February, we will be in Tekapo having completed day one of the South Island Charity Bike Ride.
We have been training hard on training rides and on our own. We all have similar reasons for participating in this event, we each have our own personal goals, and we want to have fun doing it!
We are in a unique position to be a part of one of the recipient charities, Heart Kids South Canterbury, but also to be able to give back to others. We feel more incentive to do this after hearing from the other charities and riders about the amazing things they do!
The other charities are:
- Hospice South Canterbury
- Multiple Sclerosis South Canterbury
- Graeme Dingle Foundation Canterbury
- Timaru Riding for the Disabled
- YMCA South & Mid Canterbury
- South Canterbury Child Restraints
- Family Works South Canterbury
Thank you all for your messages, incredible donations to help make a difference to these amazing South Canterbury Charities.
🦁 For us Heart Kid parents, the brave lion is well known to us, with the book Patch the Brave Heart Lion.
Our group has had a name change and it really has a lot of meaning for us all! We are now the Lions 🦁 Our team leaders are amazing with the advice and help they give us. One of our team leaders made the suggestion and our other team leader wrote to let us know that “they have big hearts like all of us and brave as we all are. Having so many with us riding for heart kids makes heart & brave seem appropriate & our group colour will be.. yes you guessed it RED!” ❤️
At this morning's safety briefing, the committee announced the change of name and face our team leaders some mascots (see photos - a lion and amazingly even a red lion).
Today we amazingly completed 77km around Pleasant Point. What an achievement!! We began a few months ago with 25km, and then we have progressed to 40km and 50km rides a few weekends ago in Cave. We are out on our bikes after work and weekends when we can and have started meeting on Wednesdays. It’s been great to meet new people and ride with such a great group!!
