Fundraising for Alzheimers New Zealand
Auckland
As a family group we're cycling 3000 km on the Tour Aotearoa from Cape Reinga to Bluff and are fundraising for Alzheimers New Zealand as we go. Why Alzheimers NZ? We know that families impacted by dementia need all the help they can get and witnessed the fantastic support from Alzheimers NZ ourselves when our dad was ill.
We started the ride Saturday February 28 with the first leg down 90 Mile Beach and hope to reach Sterling Point in Bluff in around 19 days. We'll be posting updates as we go and you can also track our progress here: https://ta26.maprogress.com/?bib=CANJO
Please make a donation if you can and wish us luck!

Day 15 14 March 2026
From south of Hokitika to Fox Glacier
149.46 km
1863 metres climbing
6.34 hours riding
We had our first glimpse of Aoraki Mt Cook when the sun came up as we rode towards Ross. It was a beautiful day of rain-free riding on the West Coast. A bit of a drag for Neil however, who discovered his back brakes were slightly on for the first 40km and then later the same thing happened with his front brakes. He was wondering why he was feeling so tired. After some roadside mechanics his bike sped up considerably.
Thanks Sally, will do!
Good on Lockie, no doubt Popa will be delighted to do that!
Thanks Debbie. It's hilarious too, as I'm sure you can imagine!
Thanks Vicky, we're doing our best!
