Where we are @
17 October 2024Kia Ora whānau,
First off, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for your incredible support so far. We’ve made significant progress—we now have guardianship in Australia, and are currently working through the logistics of transferring Dad back to Gisborne. The hospitals in Australia and Gisborne are in discussions, but we don’t yet have a confirmed transfer date.
We’re also working with Veteran Affairs for funding assistance, and my cousin has done an incredible job handling all the legal meetings and groundwork in Australia. They are now back in Gisborne to push this urgent matter with the hospitals.
On top of that, Dad’s Army friend has been visiting him regularly and keeps us updated on how he’s doing, which has been a great comfort during this time.
We’re also in the process of securing guardianship in New Zealand, so everything will be in place for his care when he returns home. You might have noticed a change to this page as it’s now merged with Dad’s Army Whānau.
Every day, we get closer to getting him home. Please continue to share this page—your support means everything, and together we will bring him back where he belongs.
