Raising awareness and support for suicide prevention in construction through the Goggins 4 x 4 x 48 challenge. Join us!

Silverdale, Auckland

Squad: Ryan Thomas, Blair Price, Michael, Craig & Max Goudie.

Suicide is a serious issue that affects many people, especially those in the construction industry. According to recent research, suicide rates in the construction industry are significantly higher than in other sectors, with men aged 20-24 having the highest rate of suicide at 32.94 per 100,000. Furthermore, the highest proportion of suicides occurred among Maori males aged 20-24, followed by those aged 45-49.

As a response to these alarming statistics, we are proud to support the "Mates in Construction" initiative, which aims to prevent suicide among construction workers in New Zealand. On 5-7th May, we will be completing the Dave Goggins 4 x 4 x 48 challenge to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. This is a 6.44km run every 4 hours for 48 hours - that's 77.25 kms on very limited sleep.

We are just a group of ordinary lads in the construction sector who are passionate about supporting our fellow workers and reducing the stigma around mental health. We invite you to support us by making a donation, spreading awareness, or even joining us on the run. Every dollar raised will go towards supporting suicide prevention initiatives rolled out by Mates.

We cannot ignore the fact that suicide is a major issue in our industry. By supporting "Mates in Construction," we can make a real difference in the lives of those who may be struggling. Let's work together to create a safer, healthier workplace.
