Fundraising for Run72
Canterbury
Hello friends of the Burgundy Beavers,
After our ground-breaking, earth-shattering, plate-winning debut season, we'd like to pause your celebrations and turn your attention towards something much more important.
This year the Burgundy Beavers will be joining the Lads Without Labels Initiative, Run72. During this event, at least one person will be running non stop for 72 hours in an effort to raise money to help stop the largest cause of death to young men and teenagers in NZ. 72% of NZ suicides occur in men We want to make a change.
All of the Beavers have been affected, or known someone to have been affected by a struggle with mental health. We want to stress the importance of checking up on your mates wherever possible, whether it be a weekly mental health chat in the flat, or just asking your mate how he's going on the way back from uni.
So, we as a team will be running 500km over the course of this 72 hours. What we may lack in athleticism we make up for in Mana, and we hope that in response you, our friends, whanau and community support us with any donation you can. Every $150 raised will go towards one hour of counselling for a young man in need of the guidance and help he needs - because just one hour of counselling may save a life, and saving one life ensures the wellbeing of hundreds. Help us get over the finish line, and help provide a man with the help he needs to get over the line for the lifetime that he deserves.
