Wellington

On Sunday, October 30 I'm running the Auckland marathon in support of I AM HOPE and Gumboot Friday.

As someone who suffers from depression, raising awareness and funding for mental health is something I'm particularly passionate about.

I AM HOPE do a wonderful job promoting positive attitudinal societal change around mental health throughout New Zealand, while offering hope and a voice to young people.

Their annual Gumboot Friday appeal is on November 4 this year so I'm joining the Gumboot Army! The Gumboot Friday fund connects young people with counsellors or therapists.

Given I was laid low by Covid in late August my preparation for the marathon has been far from ideal, but every dollar you can donate will help me get through the 42.2km.

Thank you!  25 November 2022

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped me raise close to $1500 for I AM HOPE and their Gumboot Friday appeal.

It was a truly miserable day in Auckland (see photo!) and despite a limited build-up I managed to stop the clock 15 minutes faster than I did as a naïve 19-year-old in 2005. My official time was 3:45:40, which saw me finish 420th of 1299 finishers.
