Can you help Big Brothers Big Sisters raise 15k in 15 days?

$16,031 of $15,000 goal
Given by 97 generous donors in 16 days

Fundraising to help make a positive difference in the lives of young people in North Canterbury.

Canterbury

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been hit hard by the pandemic. With our fundraising events postponed or cancelled we have been unable to raise vital funds needed to run our youth mentoring programme in North Canterbury, this is our first ever online appeal and we really need your help!

Matching vulnerable children in our communities with a safe and trusted adult role model, the Big Brothers Big Sisters programme supports positive relationships that are critical to childhood development.

For one hour, once a week our ‘Bigs’ and ‘Littles’ spend time together sharing hobbies and interests. By simply showing up each week and being themselves, our Mentors provide encouragement, promote confidence and build self-belief in our young people.

For some of the children in our programme, the weekly interaction with their Mentor may be the only time they spend outside their home or school, or are afforded the undivided attention of an adult.

Every dollar donated over the next two weeks will be invested straight back into the North Canterbury community, supporting vulnerable tamariki and their whānau.

You only need to give a little, to change a life.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Canterbury recruit, train and support adult volunteer Mentors across the Waimakariri and Hurunui districts, matching them with tamariki (children) aged between 6 and 11 who are in need of a little extra support.

It’s the Final Countdown!  14 April 2022

With less than 48 hours to go, the race is on to reach our 15k fundraising goal - can you help us get over the finish line?

Please tell your friends and whānau about our appeal, share our posts on social media, email our Givealittle page to your work colleagues and show our heart-warming video to your boss and give them the fuzzies.

Your donation means the world to us and we can’t thank you enough for contributing to our first ever online appeal to provide North Canterbury’s most vulnerable children with ‘Big Brothers’ and ‘Big Sisters’.

Thank you for making a difference and spreading the word - we couldn’t do this without you!

Ngā mihi
