Charity boxing - Supporting the "Taranaki Retreat"

Born out of a vision to give back to the community the "Taranki Retreat" was founded by Jamie Allen after the devastating lose of his daughter.

The core focus for the retreat is to prevent suicide and they achieve this by offering many services including a 'free of charge' retreat for anybody needing a break and support for whatever reason.

When Jamie was struck with grief he gave up his job, purchased a paddock and began building what is now the "Taranaki Retreat".

In the past 2 years the retreat has hosted over 150 residents as well as helped an additional 2500 people get a handle of life and learn to love themselves. They work along side the public health system and work to connect their new found friends to customise the support needed.

Recently the Retreat received the "2018 New Zealander of the year " award for "Community of the year".

The retreat has over 20 volunteers from all walks of life, it is a registered charity that relies solely on donations.

I choose to support the retreat because I love that they solely focus on giving a hand to anyone that is down and needs support. It's far to common that we come across friends, family or random people that need help but don't know where to turn. Between 2016-2017 it was a confirmed over 600 New Zealanders commited suicide as a last resort to end their pain. This is a failure in the system and im excited to support an charity attempting to help with this issue.
