Climate Safe House is a community-lead project to develop housing for areas vulnerable to coastal changes caused by climate change.

Nationwide

Jeanette Fitzsimons is our patron.

We work to strengthen communities in the immediate, mid- and long-term future, with emphasis on adapting to climate change, energy, food, water and community resilience.

We work on local climate change action, including the ClimateSafeHouse project to build a model, relocatable, cosy home to demonstrate housing for the future. We give free energy advice and organise insulation flash-mobs. We support the Cosy Homes Trust, work on low carbon transport solutions, are working with Enphase to create a community energy network, provide expert advocacy, and much more.

The Climate Safe House project is a proactive, constructive response to changing climate. Hiding in our heads in the sand won't help, but working on community-based, practical, scalable adaptation will.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Kicking it off! It is going to take a lot of fundraising to build a model Climate Safe House but we need to get going on building solutions to climate change and we need more people to join in on climate action.
