The Himalayan Trust aims to bring safe water to the Nepalese village of Musey, but they need our help.
Waikato
Musey's village supply tank was severely damaged in the 2015 Nepal earthquakes, affecting the supply of water to 80 homes. The Himalayan Trust is working with the people of Musey to fundraise up to $50,000 to build a seismic-proof water tank, to supply the entire village of Musey and seven fire hydrants. Safe, accessible water is an essential part of village life, enabling farming and keeping villagers healthy.
As a Step Higher Award recipient, I will be travelling to the Solokhumbu region of Nepal in February 2017 with three other Sir Edmund Hillary Scholars. We will be visiting the Musey Water Project, and witnessing more of Sir Edmund Hillary's work in the region, trekking up to 5,000m and meeting the local Nepalese people.
As part of the Award, I am fundraising money for the Himalayan Trust to support the Musey Water Project. I hope to do this through a fundraising concert, and for those who cannot attend but still wish to support, through this Givealittle page.
I'm involved in this fundraiser because I will be travelling to Nepal to visit the Musey Water Project and other projects that Sir Edmund Hillary started with the Himalayan Trust.
