Couch to 55kms for Allergies

COUCH TO 55KM - You read that right!

From the couch at 96.8kg dealing with anxiety and bad health to training for an ultra marathon at 72.8kgs currently (24kgs weightless) and counting. October 2018 I decided to get off the couch and get fit, making a change for my health and my family through fitness and healthy eating. Our daughter Georgia, age 7, has lived her entire life with life threatening allergies. Since 6 months old she was diagnosed with an allergy to dairy and soy, anaphylaxis to eggs, fish, rock melon, nuts, sesame seeds and bee stings and August 2018 began testing for celiac disease.

I have decided to dedicate my 55km run/walk of the MCL Construction Triple Peaks Challenge (March 9 2019) to Georgia. The amount of courage, strength and willpower I see in her, living every day with life threatening allergies is something I am so proud of and inspired by, and I have set myself this challenge to show her how much I support her. Because allergies are a large part of our world I have also been in contact with Mark Dixon, CEO of Allergy NZ and have chosen to fundraise every dollar i can in conjunction with my challenge - for Allergy NZ.

Allergy NZ is a national not-for-profit society whose primary role is to provide information, education, and support to the many thousands of New Zealanders living with allergies.

Allergies at times, can be a poorly represented and misunderstood condition and the work that Allergy NZ do for people like Georgia Nationwide is outstanding, so it is also timely that the Triple Peaks Marathon coincides with Allergy Awareness Week 2019.

This is a huge challenge for me and something I am super determined and passionate to accomplish and raise public awareness about.
