In Canterbury and the West Coast, rescue helicopters operate 24/7, 365 days a year, providing rapid emergency response when every second counts. These highly skilled crews respond to serious accidents, medical emergencies, search and rescue operations, and urgent hospital transfers — often reaching people in remote or hard‑to‑access locations where ground assistance simply isn’t fast enough.

The service is community‑funded, with millions of dollars required each year to keep helicopters airborne, crews trained, and equipment ready. Donations directly help fund operational costs, aircraft availability, and the ability to respond immediately when someone’s life is at risk.
