Cycling For Those Affected By Dementia

Wellington

Listen up! I'm strapping on my intergalactic cycling helmet and preparing for a mission that's out of this world: Round the Lake, a mind-blowing 160km road cycling event around Lake Taupo. But hey, this isn't just about me pedaling like a rocket-propelled madman - it's about supporting Dementia New Zealand and making a difference for those affected by dementia!

Let me introduce you to the inspirations behind this quest. Firstly, we have Kelly Byrne, aka KFB, as an esteemed Officer in the New Zealand Air Force, he dedicated his life to serving his country and bringing joy to those around him. With his witty one-liners and hilarious antics, an infectious sense of humour and generous spirit, he brought joy to the galaxy while still looking snazzy in his uniform. Kelly, we salute you!

Next, let's shine a spotlight on James Francis, a maestro of hospitality and an expert in the art of over-catering. With his hosting prowess and mentoring skills, he left an indelible mark on the hearts of Lindisfarne College students. As a teacher and vice-rector, JGF nurtured the minds of countless young men, inspiring them to reach for the stars. His lessons went far beyond textbooks, shaping generations with his kindness and mentorship.

I can't do it alone! Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let's support Dementia New Zealand, and let's prove that we can achieve feats that are truly out of this world!

Taupo Challenge Done and Done!  27 November 2023

Survived the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge 2023 amidst nature's tantrum—50km/h winds, rain from all angles, and a freeze rivaling a penguin's ice bath. Wooden medal struts like a peacock on performance-enhancing drugs. Rode 160.87km, enduring more than a pirate with a stand-up comedian parrot.

Exciting news: $4000 raised for Dementia NZ, a feat more impressive than a cat playing Jenga while solving a Rubik's Cube. Your generosity flows like syrup on pancakes—huge thanks! The GiveALittle Page closes on December 1, so unleash any last-minute schemes; my dignity's value exceeds the national debt.

Miss the deadline? Fear not! Shower Dementia NZ with love and cash anytime. They welcome kindness like a dog welcomes belly rubs—enthusiastically. You've made this journey unforgettable, memories sticking like glitter at a craft party. Until next time, stay mischievous, stay generous, and if life hands you lemons, make a lemon meringue pie to share with someone in need. Over and out, you absolute legends!
