Raising money for the Lower Hutt food bank and raising awareness about the issue of food insecurity.
Lower Hutt, Wellington
Roughly 14% of Kiwis are 'Food insecure' and have trouble putting healthy food on the table. The Lower Hutt Community Foodbank provides emergency food parcels with enough food to feed individuals or families for four days. Last year in 2023 they distributed 10,000+ food parcels. To support them, I'll be cycling 1 kilometre for every $2 that is donated through this page to help raise awareness about food insecurity and hopefully attract more donations.
If we raise the amount of $4000, I will ride the length of Aotearoa New Zealand from Cape Reinga to Bluff using the Tour Aotearoa route.
Follow me on Instagram where I'll be logging my rides:
Starting the ride 30 December 2024
Tomorrow (31st Dec) I'll be taking the ferry to Picton and starting my ~1,440km journey (as long as my ferry doesn't get cancelled). My first day will be a short day if everything goes to plan, getting off the ferry a little after noon and riding 30km to Blenheim where I'll stay for the night. The ride each day will get longer after that, as I head into Molesworth Station and further south. I'll be posting pictures and updates on my instgram page; https://www.instagram.com/pictontobluff2025/
