Mike Havill, Epic Cycling Challenge - LEJOG - Lands End England to John O'Groats Scotland. Raising Funds for Cure Parkinson's NZ
Waikato
Big challenge ahead!
Starting 14 August 2025, Nicola K and I will be riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats — that’s about 2,000km across England, Wales, and Scotland! We’ll be bikepacking the whole way, carrying our own gear and following scenic cycle trails, tracks, and quiet country roads. Hoping to finish in 3 to 4 weeks.
It’s going to be a huge personal challenge — especially for me at 64yo. I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2012, and this ride is part of my mission to raise awareness and fund research to Cure Parkinson's.
We’d love your support as we take on this journey together!

Cure Parkinson’s NZ is dedicated to funding innovative research to stop, slow, or cure Parkinson’s disease. Through global partnerships with Michael J Fox Foundation, Cure Parkinson’s UK and Shake It Up Australia, we support transformative science at the Centre For Brain Research at the University of Auckland, where researchers like Prof. Maurice Curtis and Dr. Victoria Low pioneer olfactory diagnostics and novel treatments to change lives. By donating to Cure Parkinson’s NZ you’re helping to fund better treatments and ultimately a cure for Parkinson’s disease. Your commitment allows us to plan ahead with confidence and invest in new, world-leading projects through our dedicated research team – the Cure Collective, right here in New Zealand. www.cureparkinsonsnz.org.nz
