Danielle is swimming 40.2km across Lake Taupo to support Dementia NZ - turning kilometres into care.
Nationwide
In February 2026, Danielle Falconer will take on a major challenge: a 40.2 km swim across Lake Taupō, wearing a cap, goggles and togs only (absolutely no wetsuit or fins), which will require 14-16 hours of continuous swimming. It’s a demanding physical and mental test — and she’s doing it for a cause that means a great deal to her.
Dementia has touched Danielle’s life in a very personal way. Someone she loves is currently living with dementia, and a close family friend passed away from it. Their experiences, and the strength shown by their whānau, inspired her to use this swim to honour them and support others facing the same journey.
Dementia NZ plays a crucial role in helping families across Aotearoa navigate dementia with dignity — providing guidance, resources and connection during a challenging time.
By donating to this Givealittle campaign, you’re helping ensure that individuals and families affected by dementia receive the support they deserve. All donations will go directly to Dementia NZ. (Danielle is covering the costs of the swim separately).
Whether it’s $5 or $50, your contribution matters.
Together, we can turn every stroke into support, every kilometre into care, and every donation into something that truly makes a difference.
Thank you for your support.
