Hi, I'm Danny and I'll be trekking up to the summit of Mt Everest BC (and beyond) this May to fundraise for UNICEF,NZ

Hello Hello,
As some of you may know in May I will be heading to the Himalayas to trek up to see what the tallest place on earth looks like up close! I will be embarking on the biggest journey of my life thus far. It's an arduous fifteen day journey of 120km, from the picturesque village of Lukla, nestling in the Nepalese Himalayas, to the Mount Everest BC and back again! My route will lead me through this tranquil mountain range of gentle giants, encompassing some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable, until I reach my goal at Everest BC at 5,365m altitude which is equivalent to 6.5 times the height of Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. At this elevation there is but 50 percent of oxygen available at sea level. Then I push on to summit Kala Patthar (5,645m) to see the much lauded views of Mount Everest, Nuptse Nup II, Changtse and summit of Lhotse and then to the stunning Khumbu Icefall (19,000 ft).
In the process of all the hardship, misery and frozen tears, I thought I’d try and raise some money for UNICEF New Zealand.
BY DONATING, YOU WILL BE COMING WITH ME
The name of every single person who donates will be inscribed on a special flag I will be printing and taking with me on my journey, leaving it at my final peak overlooking Everest as a lasting symbol of all the support I received for this cause.
Across Syria and in surrounding countries such as Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey, millions of Syrian children are bracing for another bone-chilling winter, one they are desperately ill prepared for. Conflict has forced them from their homes, and soon the refugee camps and temporary settlements where they live will be blanketed in snow and saturated by rain. The clothes these children have been wearing since the summer are simply no match for the cold wet months that lie ahead. Children urgently need blankets, heating, access to medical care warm clothes, shoes and blankets to safeguard them against freezing winter conditions.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life. However, because we do not choose where we are born or the circumstances by which we are surrounded, not every child is afforded this chance. I was fortunate to be born and raised in an environment where I never worried about going without a meal or not having a roof over my head. I totally know how alone and powerless a parent would feel if they were unable to provide these basic needs for their child. For this reason I feel a sense of duty to help those parents, and those children, who through no fault of their own, face a harsh reality of life. I believe children are the light in this world. I believe that regardless of race, origin, or location, a child should be given the opportunity to thrive. Fortunately charities like UNICEF provide access to clean water, proper nutrition, vaccinations, and health services for both mother and child to ensure a child's survival. UNICEF receives no funding from the United Nations. It is only through the support by those, such as you and me, that allows them to continue to do their magnificent work. It has always been a dream of mine to contribute to something larger than myself and to make a difference in this world in which we live. This opportunity presented itself unexpectedly, and it has spoken to me in a way like no other. I know the journey will challenge myself in all sorts of ways, but I feel like this is what I am meant to do and it is just the beginning!
I ask you to help some of the most devastated children on the planet. $1, $10 or $1000. Every donation counts. Pounds. Dollars. Euros. Rands, Rupees. All welcome! Any amount that you are able to donate to this great cause is genuinely appreciated.
Many thanks :-)
Danny Sebastian
